What do people think of someone riding a Harley motorcycle?
I've always wondered. Id wanted a Harley because my Grandpa always took me to the shops n stuff when I was young. Now I have one and I get mixed looks. Sometimes they'll smile and wave or thumbs up me, or talk to me and tell me how nice it is when I fill up. Other times Ill ride up and people will give me a weird stare and watch me everywhere I go like im a criminal or something. I'm 20 years old and a cool nice guy, but what "stereotype" am I for having a Harley?

I'm a new rider, and I'm curious about what sort of views are out there and which ones I'm likely to encounter - from motorcycle riders AND non-riders.
views are that they are less capable, cant really fully handle a really heavy bike(in a tip over situation or backing up), Also some say the cruiser riders are manly. And o yea.. also everyone thinks their bike should be some shade of pink or purple. Thats about all i know. I think biker chicks are sexy though.. in the nice form fitting armor and matching colors. and being able to handle all that raw unbridled horsepower is cool too

what is the significance of the bell on old bikers motorcycles?
I know its an old superstition that has to do with protecting the rider,does anyone know the history?
Actually the old superstition is that there are road goblins and when you ride with the bell, the goblins get sucked up into the bell and the bell distroys them.

I am 17 years old and am looking to get my motorcycle licence soon. What are the requirments to first get a permit (do I need a parent/guardian)? Also how long would I have to have a permit before I get a license? I plan to sign up for the class as soon as I receive a permit.
You dont' need your permit to sign up for a class. The best/safest rout is to get enrolled in a class first. When you finish the class you will know how to ride safely and you will have the Driving part of your test done. After the class all you need to do to get your licence is to take the written test (don't forget that you will probably have to take the car driving written test too).

my car beginner permit (motorcycle question)?
i have a car beginners permit from the state of south carolina, what it says word for word is: hours of operation: vehicle 6am- midnight w/ lic. driver (21 years in front seat w/ 1 tear exp.);
12mid-6am w/ lic. parent/guardian.
Motorcycle: 6am-6pm (8pm dst) unless supervised by lic. parent/guardian
so does that mean i can operate a motorcycle from 6am to 6pm and 8pm at daylight savings time by myself? cuz im pretty sure thats what it means

You may drive a motorcycle or motor scooter from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (or 8 p.m. during daylight savings time).
You may not operate a motorcycle or motor scooter at any other time unless a licensed parent or guardian supervises you.
You must have your beginner's permit for 180 days before you can apply for a motorcycle license.
If you are under 18 years of age, you must practice driving with your licensed parent or legal guardian for at least 40 hours, including 10 hours during darkness, before you can apply for your motorcycle license.
So yes you may operate a MC from 6AM till 6PM unsupervised. But you still need to log the required 40/10 hours of supervised riding if you are under 18 years old.
PS The MSF safety course would be a good idea even if you are not required to take the course.
