A Harley is a very handy thing to have if you're a house painter.

Just strap a couple of gallons to the gas tank and voila! Thoroughly mixed paint by the time you get to work!

(BMW owner . . . perfect mechanical balance, no front end dive when braking, no rear dip when accellerating, exhaust valves into the wind, engine lasts 400,000 miles, I can hear the birds singing when I ride, what do you hear? Thumpa-thump, thumpa-thump, thumpa-thumpa-thumpa-thump)

Bet that dealer's got some hot deals on some nice fuel-injected CBRs.
.
But has he got anything with the cache of an '83 V65 Magna? My wife won't let me sell it. And I have Harley owners who tell me what a beast it is.

Size is number one! Too often do I see tiny women on HUGE bikes. Harley makes countless smaller bikes that are perfect for women or new riders. I always recommend a Sportster for a first time woman buyer. (or heck, a first time buyer in general! Sportsters are always in high demand and easy enough to trade up to a bigger bike later.) They are cheap and easy to find, and will run forever if you treat them right. My dad was a motorcycle safety instructor and he always complains about how big the bikes have gotten and how newbies seem to like them more, and just can't handle them. Is she buying it new or used? I'd suggest buying one (either new or used) from a licensed Harley dealer who can help you size a bike and determine if it's something you can handle or not. You shouldn't get a lemon this way either. Some dealers offer free or reduced price maintenance for a certain time as well, which is another bonus.

I love motorcycles. Ducatti, Suzuki, Honda , Kawasaki ,Triumph-Norton & BMW. And of course when you're talk anything here on the N American continent . Then it's got to the bad boy 'Hog' - Harley Davidson. In the UK apart from having the usual car which the ex and I shared , I also had a Suzuki 500cc for my own personal use. She was afraid to be on the back of it as a passenger.

The car we had, was a sports convertible that was customized on interior with Recarro bucket racing seats. Had that 'til the day we immigrated here to the US. Granted , now I miss the bike and car more than I miss the ex-wife . Is that so bad ?

Now I'm really looking forward to this baseball season. There's so much to play for and a great deal of intrigue and plot lines to be had with a number of the team. From what I've heard on the local sports talk radio . There's talk that the Cubs' front office may well decide the fate of Lou Piniella this upcoming season if things don't fare well for the team.

With the way they've performed in the NL Central over the last few seasons , this shouldn't really come as a surprise to anyone.

Hi and welcome to the world of Harley-Davidson Road King Classics! I bought mine in July 2006 and have been very happy with it. I have read your blog and I will say two things. 1. Yes, you really are bored waiting for your new ride to be delivered!!! 2. I will try to give you some tips based upon what I have learned since getting my Road King. The absolute first tip is you will automatically join as a member of HOG (Harley Owners Group). Some riders stay away from this, some embrace it. I am sort of in-between. You will find that unlike other brands of bike, Harley owners really do form a sort of brotherhood / sisterhood and you will probably enjoy this. Try an event or two, or a ride out with your dealer. Seeing where you live, there is one event you should not miss and that is the SOFER Rally. It is excellent. See but you need to do it quick as tickets run out fast - you may need your HOG membership number to book a ticket though. Ask your dealer to get the ticket for you if needed. My second tip is check out Brett Tours and get yourself booked early on one of their short tours in Europe. I did this soon after getting my Road King and I went on one of their tours in Northern France. Great fun and I have now done a number of tours with them, including to Austria and Spain. It is a great way to meet fellow H-D riders and to share in a H-D ride. They organise everything, so it is easy and a great way to just enjoy riding your bike!More comments to follow in your postings....Gary France
