I know what's worse...baby registries. I felt like I was some kind of weird knocked up Robin Hood only I wasn't stealing from the rich to give to the poor, I was stealing from friends, family & work associates to give to poor me. Baby shit is expensive as hell and it took a lot to swallow my feelings and just zap the $120 pack & play and put it on the list. And the monitor, and the high chair, crib bedding, stroller travel system, car seat, bottle 4 packs....I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that our friends & family rock and we probably got $3K worth of stuff that, unbelievably, is all being put to use. We're doing things in reverse, so I'm waiting half a year or so before doing the wedding registry and hitting them up again. I am, however, eternally grateful. Hah! I do not know what to do with all the nursery stuff when we move into the new house. I just don't want to look at it anymore. Thank you for your wonderful note about giving ourselves permission to be sad this Christmas. I hope 2007 holds many more joys for all of us waiting for our children to come - regardless of how they get to us. Our joy will come in the morning - whenver "morning" is - and there will be much celebrating then. Until then, it's okay for us to cry over crib bedding and Christmas. I know. I really, really know.
