motorcycle Chopper Where in Virginia can I get my motorcycle chopped into an old school chopper?
I am going to get a yamaha virago star motorcycle. my first question is how hard is it to chop a bike yourself? but in case i start to feel unsure and want professionals to do it, where can I go, preferably in Virginia, to get it chopped? please, no smart as# comments. i only want real answers.
Something to think about. Have you ever ridden a chopper? Choppers ride like a rock. They are VERY hard to handle any way but in a straight line. You can drop one very easily and it takes 2 to pick one up. The long front ends are hard on the frame and most frames have to be cut and modified to accept them. I've rode choppers and they suck! Most of them will not ride 2 people so your girlfriend can't ride with you.
I often wonder how many people buy a chopper, ride it once or twice, and then park them or sell them at a loss just to be rid of the monsters. Looks aren't everything.Consider these facts carefully before tearing up a good motorcycle. They make very expensive yard ornaments.
Why hasn't someone designed a Carbon Fiber custom motorcycle / chopper?
carbon fiber is lighter and stronger right?
As a body material it's fine.A fibre glass race body for my Ducati is $800.00 the same body in carbon fibre is $3700.00 from the same company. The over all saving in weight is 3.4 lbs.Not really worth the cost.As for frames altho carbon fibre is lighter and stronger it can't take the vibration and constant torquing as you power up and down.

Where is the center of mass on a 1999 harley davidson sportster xl 883?
I am doing a study for a college project and I am needing to know where the center of mass would be located on a 1999 harley sportster xl 883c. Does anybody know where it is or where i could find some very technical information that may have this information? It is not in the owners manual and I am not having much luck looking online. Thanks!!
There is no spec available for this. The closest answer anyone can give, would be the engine itself. The Sportster uses a complete engine/primary drive/transmission unit, all integral into one case, similar to most imports bikes. Given the fact that the engine its the heaviest part of the entire bike (weighing in at aprroximately 250-275 lbs) and is located, bottm/center of the frame, the center of mass would be located there.
Chrome motorcycle Any suggestions on how to remove the bluing from a set of chrome motorcycle exhaust pipes?
!!!DONT USE BLUE AWAY!!!, Though it's intended to remove bluing, it's way to harsh, it's like sandpaper in a bottle.
It scratches really badly.
There is a product called "Blue Job" It requires a lot of rubbing ,but will clean your pipes w/o scratching them.
Keep in mind, if you don't make changes to the fuel/ air ratio ,your pipes will discolor again.
motorcycle Metal where can I find information about schooling for custom metal fabrication?
I am still in the army but will soon be getting out and I am looking to pursue a career in motorcycle mechanics and custom metal fabrication. I have found a school for motorcycle mechanics but am having trouble finding where to get some schooling on the metal fabrication. If you have gotten schooling or know of some places please let me know. Thank you
I worked for a buddy who owned a blacksmith shop for a couple of years,It really helped me learn how to work with metal. We fabbed up a lot of cool sissy bars and kickstands.also did a lot of welding.
I've been told by everyone that I need to connect two terminals on the starter solenoid to start my bike. The only problem is that I'm not sure what exactly I need to connect or where my starter solenoid is. I don't want to just start connecting random metal things in case I accidentally short something out. Could anyone show me a picture of what I need to connect or tell me where the plugs are that I need to connect?
The bike is a 1982 Yamaha xj550.
Thanks for any help.
If u want to find a picture about that, u can have a try on a site called bikerkiss. There are many motorcycle experts there. I think u will find what u want.
